Indigenous Mathematics Instructional Modules

关于DMTI模块

These research-based modules for Indigenous elementary school students are being developed and tested as part of a collaboration between the Western Educational Equity Assistance Center and the Developing Mathematical Thinking Institute, which integrates research into classroom practice in the Western United States. They provide curriculum materials and professional development to support this work. These modules are for the exclusive use of educators in the Western Region who work with Indigenous groups of students. They are not to be sold or otherwise distributed without written permission of the Developing Mathematical Thinking Institute (DMTI)

  • The DMTI modules are designed to guide classroom instruction and formative assessment for teachers implementing the DMTI curricular materials.
  • The lessons are not necessarily intended for a single day of instruction. Teachers are encouraged to use their professional judgment regarding pacing. A suggested number of weeks is provided.

自2016年以来, there is a Tribal consultation requirement, as established by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The purpose of the requirement is to ensure that meaningful and timely consultations about issues affecting American Indian and Alaska Native students to provide appropriate officials from Indian Tribes or Tribal organizations to contribute to plans being made in a meaningful and substantive way. Since the onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Tribal consultation requirement is becoming even more important with the passage of the American Rescue Plan (ARP) and the Elementary and Secondary School 紧急 Relief Fund (ARP ESSER). The National Comprehensive Center has developed a toolkit to assist educational agencies and Tribal agencies. The link to the toolkit can be found here:
